Marcos Rocha de Alcantara, an air traffic controller, private pilot, virtual airspace developer, and biosystems engineer (holding joint degrees from the University of São Paulo - USP and Arizona State University - ASU), has pioneered an innovative approach to English language training for aviation professionals. He has developed the methodology for the first Brazilian international virtual flight training program. Rocha, who holds two ICAO Level 6 English certifications as both pilot (SDEA) and controller (EPLIS), and emphasizes the importance of immersive, reality-based training for effective language acquisition. Fluent in English, French, and Spanish, he advocates that realistic simulations not only enhance communication skills but also promote more efficient outcomes, while mitigating language barriers between pilots and air traffic controllers.
